Since there is no accurate data to determine the building of the monastery, the monastery has as proof the document of the abbot Sila (1753-1781) who says that the monastery was founded during the reign of Prince Stephen the Great. Here we find out about the first man who moved here, named Athanasius, who came here from Putna Monastery.
According to historians, not only monks of Putna Monastery were placed around the pious, but, after 1470, when Saint Danil Sihastru moved at Voronet, some of his disciples decided to settle in the area, mainly attracted by the beautiful surroundings and the spiritual place. In the second half of the eighteenth century, Sihastria Putnei grows steadily during the abbot Silas (1753-1781), originally from Botosani region.
He builds a new church of stone, consecrated in 1758 by Bishop Dosoftei Herescu of Radauti, which he embellishes with all the necessary cult. In this way are built cells and annexes, the inside is arranged, in parallel with watching over the spiritual life of the monastic hermitage.
Painting the church bears the imprint of Liviu Dumbrava from Gura Humorului, following the plan of Byzantine iconography. The outside of the church is not painted. The Annunciation is painted at the entrance of the church.
